Chapter 177: You Demand A What?

She did want the five thousand silver coins per month, the equipment every three months, and the discount but she was concerned about what she would have to do in return.

If…If they make her do impure things…

Thinking of the responsibilities that came along with the rewards, Wendy\'s face turned even colder, making Helena\'s heart beat a little faster.

\'Haaah…\' Seeing Wendy\'s reaction to her initial offer, Helena sighed.

\'Five thousand silver coins was a bit too low for her huh? Then how\'s this?\'

Just when Helena was about to make another offer, Wendy spoke sternly, adding a bit more anxiousness to Helena\'s heart.

"What do I have to do in return?" Wendy said, her heart beating faster and faster, "It can\'t be that you just want to give me free stuff…right?"

Various emotions swirled in Helena\'s heart upon hearing Wendy\'s words.

She assumed that Wendy was innocent but it seems like the young girl was just pretending to see if they were sincere or not in partnering with her.

"W-Well, for starters, we shall have you wear an entire set of priestess equipment, all of them would be low-grade relics and they will have a huge carved insignia of the Gold Wing Spellcaster shop."

Helena said without knowing that she was overthinking things.

After all, Wendy was truly clueless and everything she asked was simply due to her skepticism when it came to strangers, all of which were engraved in her pure mind by the teachings of Archpriest Deo.

Inappropriate things were a big no-no for her, at least until she...turned 21.

"T-That doesn\'t seem so bad…but…I just find it hard to believe that I would be paid for simply wearing a set of equipment. Are you sure that\'s all?"

Wendy said, her natural poker face adding a slight touch of intimidation to her words.

\'Tch…She even knows about that? Well, at least I\'m now sure that she would be worth partnering with in the long run…\'

Making crazy assumptions inside her head, Helena sighed, deciding to honestly tell Wendy everything. In her head, she thought that "these types" of smart individuals hate liars.

Hence, the best way to entice such "sharp" people into partnership was sincerity.

Ablaze with determination to secure Wendy as a partner, Helena looked straight into Wendy\'s eyes, making her inwardly shiver in anxiety.

"I apologize for my lack of sincerity, we do indeed require you to do a bit more but that is for the future when you become a prominent adventurer. I assure you that there would be no inappropriate demands asked of you."

"Also, although five thousand silver coins might seem much to you as a rookie adventurer, this amount is nothing to us and we are willing to help you on your journey to prominence, in exchange, we only wish that you consider partnering up with our shop in the future once you\'ve grown to your peak."

"Lastly, let me revise the offer. Seven thousand silver coins and two pieces of equipment every three months in addition to a 40% discount on all purchases."

After saying her honest piece, Helena brought out the contract, laid it out on the table, and gave Wendy a sincere smile.

She already told Wendy everything so if the young adventurer still didn\'t accept the partnership, then it wasn\'t destined to happen.

Not now, nor in the future.

Various emotions raged in Wendy\'s heart. This was her first time signing such contracts so she couldn\'t help but feel nervous.

However, the conditions were truly too good. If she signed the contract, then she would at least be able to secure decent accommodations and meals per month even if she can\'t earn much at the beginning of her career as an adventurer.

Unknowingly, her already stern expression turned into a deep frown, compelling Helena to ask if there was anything else she wanted.

If it was still within their shop\'s capabilities, then Helena would add it to the contract without any hesitation.

"I-Is there anything else you want? Please do tell me, if it is within our means then we can add it to the contract."

Meanwhile, Wendy remained silent, looking as if she was pondering deeply whether it was a good decision to sign the contract.

\'W-What? I can demand…more? Well…there is something I indeed want that is not in the contract…maybe I should give it a try? This might be a good thing for me, the deans are also smiling so it should be…\'

After a few seconds which seemed like an eternity for Helena, Wendy opened her mouth to speak.

"I…shall sign the contract", Wendy said, prompting Helena\'s anxious expression into one of joy. "But…there is indeed something I want which is not in the contract…"

"Please do tell, if your demands aren\'t too much then we shall add it to your benefits."

"O-Okay…I want…te– no, fifteen! fifteen Steelfeather ostrich eggs a month…"

"A…what?"

"Fifteen Steelfeather ostrich eggs a month."

"..."

***

After having a good laugh and a good meal, the Colzen representatives strode out of the academy station with smiles on their faces.

They were honestly dumbfounded for a few seconds after hearing Wendy\'s request.

Who would demand eggs from a spellcaster shop partnership deal?

Probably only her.

After a few minutes of walking, the Colzen representatives finally arrived in front of the main stage for their quarterfinal match against Kossin Academy, another regular top-16 academy.

It was unknown whether the organizers deliberately arranged the match-ups this way but somehow, Colzen hadn\'t encountered the top three academies yet.

Maybe the organizers wanted the semi-finals to be blazing hot and that\'s why they made such matchups.

Nevertheless, this was good for them.

After all, it would be optimal for them to reserve their strongest assets until the finals.

The chances of that happening were bleak though as they would have to face one of the top three academies in the semi-finals if…nothing went wrong.
